Columbia County public schools
The Columbia County School District includes 15 elementary schools, seven middle schools, four high schools and one alternative school. In 2003, pupils continued to score above the state average on the Criterion Referenced Competency Tests - designed to measure a pupil's knowledge of the core curriculum in language arts, reading and mathematics. It is administered to pupils in first through eighth grades.
Columbia County's average SAT scores increased 12 points in 2003 to 1,037 - above the state and national average.
